Amazing Grace Lutheran Church

In 2000, Amazing Grace Lutheran Church identified a need in their neighborhood. Many community members struggled with trauma, grief and addiction. So they partnered with the local McElderry Park Community Association to create a green space for healing.  They formed the Charm City Land Trust to move forward with the belief that the land should be community-controlled and used to benefit neighbors. These days, the “Amazing Port Street Commons” host a garden, pollinator garden, prayer labyrinth that allows community members a scared space.

The Charm City Land Trust continues to protect greenspaces and preserving permanently affordable housing, preventing gentrification and displacement in East Baltimore.
