Lois Ann Sorensen

An older white woman with long grey hair is smiling, standing against a grey wall. She is wearing a minister's green stole and has a cross hanging around her neck.

Reverend Lois Ann Sorensen (preferred pronouns she/her) has a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Marquette University (Milwaukee, WI), a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of South Florida (Tampa, FL), and a Master of Divinity from Luther Seminary (St. Paul, MN). She lives in Lakeland, Florida near the Green Swamp and co-owns a family cabin near Mercer, Wisconsin on the Turtle-Flambeau Flowage.

Lois worked as an engineer for General Electric Medical Systems and then as an environmental protection professional for the Southwest Florida Water Management District until she took early retirement in 2019 to finish her seminary education. While working for the District, she authored and co-authored several technical reports for the 16-county government agency and became a statewide subject matter expert in water conservation and drought management.

Lois came back to her Lutheran baptism in 2011 thanks to a work assignment speaking about Creation Care for the people of Grace Lutheran Church in Tampa, Florida. She was commissioned as Synod Parish Deacon in 2014 and then she was ordained to the Ministry of Word and Sacrament in 2021. Pastor Lois current serves the people of Reformation Lutheran Church, one of two ELCA congregations in Lakeland, Florida.
