St. Andrew’s has a relatively large church and a long history of an Environmental Stewardship Team (EST). How do they incorporate their calling to creation throughout all services and complex building use? Making sure the systems in place have clear guidelines to support best practices!
For example, they implemented guidelines for any group using their facilities to require reusable or compostable dishes, flatware, etc. There are 3-stream waste bins to accomodate compost. And the grounds team has policies that new plantings be at least 50% native.
St Andrew’s also works to educate their congregants. A couple times a year, they prioritize environmental speakers, and their Sunday school and VBS incorporate Creation Care programs. St Andrew’s is still working to figure out more creation care programming for teens.
